It’s a resounding thumbs up for the Nespresso C100-US-AERO from pretty much every on-line reviewer. There are only a couple reviews on Coffee Geek for the C100 and it’s a 50 : 50 split there. But then, you’d expect coffee geeks to not like the concept of pods, anyway. From the ease of use, to the quality of the coffee it produces, it seems that most people who buy it, love it. It honestly gives you a no mess, no fuss and quick cup of pretty much perfect espresso, each and every time. No learning curve, no mistakes, no waste. And Nespresso do provide a huge range of different coffee capsules, so you can experiment with pretty much any type of coffee you choose.
As expected, a problem is the lack of places to buy the coffee pods themselves. Nespresso sell them, but shipping is kind of expensive. The only other place to buy them from is Nespresso bars, but these are few and far between unless you live in a city. But, a bit of planning will take care of this. And the pods are really well sealed, so they stay fresh for a long time.
Note that the biggest complaint about the machine is the Milk Frother. People have complained that it has either given up the ghost after a few months, or that it just doesn’t froth milk very well. So, if cappuccino or latte is important to you –look into this.
There have been some issues with some of the Nespresso coffee pods providing weak coffee, so you’ll need to experiment to find out which ones work best for your personal taste. From the Nespresso we have tasted, it could be a mistake in using the water settings.
The Bottom Line
If you are looking for simplicity and good, consistent coffee, then the Nespresso C100-US-AERO provides just that. Okay, you may have to pay for shipping on top of your coffee price, but it still works out at around 50 cents per cup, and that’s a huge saving on coffee shop prices. Even if you take into account the few reviews which didn’t like the machine, going by the reasoning that you can’t please all the people all the time, 126 out of 133 happy Amazon customers pretty much makes this little machine a resounding success.
